Health and Safety

Health and Safety (H&S) is a core value and our first priority, which is why we endeavour to operate beyond compliance. Across the world, our teams proactively strive for continuous improvement and remain vigilant to potential risks.

We encourage all colleagues to play a vital role and speak up if they have concerns, as we have a collective responsibility to do the right thing, even when no one is looking.

Making progress against our targets

We have set targets to enhance how we manage resources and minimise their environmental impact across our operations. Those include committing to net zero across the three scopes of the GHG protocol, reducing our water, waste energy use and transitioning to renewable energy sources across all our manufacturing sites.

Climate action

WMFTS is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in line with our approved Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) goals, aiming for net-zero emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 by 2050.

This includes achieving at least a 90% reduction in absolute emissions compared to our 2021 baseline. To date, we have made significant progress in reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions through energy efficiency measures, transitioning to renewable energy sources across our manufacturing sites, and converting our fleet to electric vehicles (EVs).

Environment

Since our 2019 baseline we have reduced our water usage by more than 15%, and achieved zero waste to landfill across our manufacturing locations

This has been achieved through investment at our sites, including installing grey water recycling and rainwater harvesting systems, as well as improving our waste sorting. All our supply locations are ISO 14001 compliant.

Biodiversity

As part of our commitment to protecting the environment, by the end of 2024 all of our sites completed biodiversity initiatives. We are dedicated to implementing a 10% biodiversity net gain on all new sites.

Advancing environmental protection, climate resilience, and sustainable infrastructure across natural and urban ecosystems supports Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 7, 9, 11, 12, 13 and 15.
