50 year anniversary celebration for Falmouth's Watson-Marlow

Celebrating fifty years in Falmouth

Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions (WMFTS), one of the South West’s most successful businesses and part of Spirax-Sarco plc, has celebrated 50 years at its current location in Falmouth with a party for staff and their families.

Celebrations for the 50 year milestone took place on Friday, August 30th at the Princess Pavilion in Falmouth. A factory tour was also arranged for interested family members.

Around 650 guests attended including employees past and present and their families. VIP guests included the Mayor, Mayoress and Deputy Mayor of Falmouth. Attendees enjoyed a truly Cornish event with live music; a Cornish cèilidh; a cream tea; and pasties too.

Founded nearly 60 years ago, WMFTS is the world leader in niche peristaltic and sinusoidal pumps, and associated fluid path technologies. Employing over 4800 staff worldwide in over 50 countries –including 360 people based in Falmouth - the company has enjoyed significant growth in the last 10 years. In recognition of its success, Watson-Marlow Limited has been awarded the Queens Awards for Enterprise in the categories of Innovation (2018) and International Trade (2017).

Commenting on the anniversary and the celebration itself, Simon Nicholson, Managing Director of Watson-Marlow Limited said:

It was a very happy occasion indeed. It is so important that we take time to share and celebrate our successes to date with our employees. They are the heart of our business and without their hard work and dedication, our business would not be what it is today. We are so pleased that so many of the faces and personalities who been part of our history were able to attend and share in our celebrations with their families, too. We now look forward to our next 50 years!”

Charity contribution

WMFTS is currently a corporate sponsor of local charity Turn to Starboard (T2S), and a number of T2S team members were invited to join in with celebrations at the Falmouth Pavilion. The company’s partnership with T2S – which was kicked off with a £25,000 donation in early 2019 - will provide Royal Yachting Association (RYA) sailing courses and opportunities to serving and retired servicemen and women to help them re-adjust after operational tours. As well as a number of donation collection points at the event, WMFTS also ran a tombola from which all proceeds will go to the T2S charity.
