Faced with a failing progressive cavity pump when trying to transfer peanut butter from the grinder to a holding tank, a production plant in Pretoria, South Africa, found a far more reliable and cost-effective solution in a MasoSine pump.

Product integrity assured

The MasoSine™ pump was selected for its viscous pumping ability. The pump features a unique sinusoidal rotor that delivers lower shear, gentle pumping action that safely transfers delicate products without risk of degradation. This is in contrast to the progressive cavity (PC) pump deployed previously by the company, which battled to pump the highly viscous peanut butter. Equally, dry running due to inconsistent feed between the grinder and the hopper lid to reduced suction in the PC pump.

More uptime, fewer costs

To date, the Pretoria peanut butter plant reports that the MasoSine pump has been pumping successfully with minimum downtime. The pump has offered considerable savings over the maintenance costs encountered previously with the PC pump. Maintenance and cleaning cycles take just minutes and can be performed in-situ. The pump now runs intermittently to pump five tonnes of peanut butter to the holding tank every day.
